The regenative strategies of selected forest plant species (Cecropia concolor, Vismia guianensis; Bellucia dichtoma; Miconia dispar, Guatteria guaianensis, Pogonophora schomburgkiana, Protium hebetatum) in the central Amazon (Brasil) were studied for a period of four years. Our results demonstrate that the ability of vegetative regeneration os a species is independent of its generative regeneration potential. Species with vegetative regeneration establish in early stage of succession more successfully. During succession the generative regeneration becomes more specialized, showing less tolerance to biotic and abiotic factors. |
